The problem
As IKEA regularly updates its interiors, the company was looking for flexible wall units which were easy to move yet robust.
The solution
IKEA uses the 54mm thick, solid SP54 wall units because they are particularly screw-tight. You can as easily hang a CD rack on them as metal displays on which complete (bed) settees are displayed. Furthermore, these panels provide IKEA with built-in cable ducts. This is very useful for any lighting used in the living environments. The flexibility is another benefit of the system. The panels are stuck together using only a soft joint tab. They are therefore easy to move using FAAYFIX®.
People were so enthusiastic that FAAY is now recommended as standard in the ‘house style bible’.
